Photographs settle the argument
A written note saying the reader area was clear is an opinion recorded by one person. A dated photograph of the same area is evidence, and it makes a difference twice: when an incident has to be reconstructed, and when an auditor asks how the control is verified. It adds seconds to each inspection.
Anti-skimming: what to check and how often
Physical inspection of the fascia (card reader, keypad, screen surround, dispenser area) is the first barrier and should be routine at the highest-volume sites. To that add configuration control, access review and verification that the installed anti-skimming measures are still working. Frequency follows exposure: not every location needs the same schedule. It is one of the questions branches ask us most often: record of every check.
The check that happens every morning
Scheduled rounds by a technician are a monthly control. The people who open the office every morning are a daily one, if they know what a normal reader area looks like and what to do about anything else. Training them costs an afternoon and closes most of the interval between professional visits.
